The Grey’s Anatomy star actor Katherine Heigl, started Heigl’s Hounds of Hope with her mother. She is known for being an animal lover, also a veganism advocate. She was also awarded with the Presedential Service Award for her work around animal welfare from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Being a true dog mom, she has raised numerous dogs as pets while also adopting more with her husband, singer Josh Kelley. She has since established her own line of pet nutrition.

New Dog Food in Town

Heigl gave the business, which sells softly prepared dog food, the name Badlands Ranch after his ranch in Utah. She was inspired to start the food line by her property. It offers medical attention, instruction in obedience, and adoption placements all throughout the US.

Additionally, it collaborates with the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. The actress and her family launched this additional nonprofit, which saves puppies from high-kill shelters.

When she first launched the company, Heigl stated that the goal of Badlands Ranch was to "provide delectable goods that nourish dogs inside and out for overall health while maintaining animal care as our top concern."

Badlands Ranch Superfood Complete is the company's flagship item. It is dog chow that also contains meat, salmon, and veggies along with a variety of superfoods. Then there are Superfood Bites, which are devoid of artificial additives, fillers, or preservatives and feature freeze-dried raw beef liver.

Because of the "larger purpose" of the new line, according to Heigl, "when your dog eats Superfood Complete, you're not just helping them attain a healthier life, you're also helping another dog in need get healthy food," he said.

Serving up Superfoods

There are many superfoods that benefit people and dogs alike. Okra, whether raw or cooked, flaxseed, goji berries, and honey are all edible to dogs. Before introducing a new item to your dog's diet, you may want to speak with your veterinarian, and keep in mind that some superfoods, like acai berries, are harmful to canines.
